My husband and I were truly blessed to have the opportunity to be part of this wonderful event. Royce Builders asked us to join with them and help make this happen. For us, going in we didn't know your family - leaving we felt we were a part of your family. This was about bringing Tara home, so you could all be together as a family. God speed to all of you for the obstacles your family has overcome.

Dear Kubena Family,

I am so excited for you. I grew up in El Campo and attended WCJC in Wharton so the whole Wharton county area is 'my home town'. The house is beautiful and I wish I could have been out there volunteering myself. I watched the progress each day over the Internet. I want to thank Royce Builders, Gallery Furniture and each and every person who helped or donated. What you did was just awesome!! I can't wait to see the show when it airs.

Sincerely,

Dear Kubenas,I am the teacher from Sartartia Middle School who brought "Get Well" and "Congratulations" cards to the Kubena family, as well as a donation to help out with the medical bills. I was treated so well by the people at the site. I would especially like to thank, Jennifer for allowing me to meet Eduardo and Ed and have my picture taken with Eduardo. She then invited my husband, 3 year old daughter, and myself, to enjoy sandwiches and cookies in the VIP tent and watch the house being built. I had no idea I would get that special treat for my efforts, but it was a sweet surprise. Thanks to Royce Builders for their wonderful gift to the Kubenas. What a wonderful example of Texas' hospitality. In closing, I want you to know that your house was built by wonderful people who are a testament to what the best of Texas and America is all about. God bless you. Tara, you will be in my prayers.Sincerely,

John, Monica and family, On behalf of the Victor Tichacek family, I would like to express the excitement and gratefulness that we have for ABC and the compassionate people that believed in your cause. Although nothing can rid you of the fear of battling such a serious condition as Tara and Sara have had to overcome, this new house is a beautiful sign of hope. Your family now has the opportunity to reunite under one roof and make a home. On April 29th, 2005 when my dad, Victor, was seriously burned in his accident, we relied on FAITH, HOPE and PRAYERS. The community of East Bernard has shown great strength in taking care of their own. Your story as well as ours has shown that prayer is a powerful tool. Two days before Christmas, my dad spoke for the first time. Since then he has miraculously begun to make large leaps toward recovery. Today, he is awaiting a transfer to a rehabilitation center and we expect him to return home to East Bernard later this year to finally begin his much deserved retirement. As the excitement filled East Bernard last week, Dad too shared in the joy. We kept him up-to-date with the daily progress of the home building and I tried to volunteer on my familiy's behalf. Although the scheduling had been filled, I had the priviledge of gaining access to the site through your gracious neighbor, Dana Mikes. It's not often that someone gets to witness a miracle as it happens. I was fortunate to witness two both my Dad's recovery and Royce Builders along with ABC presenting you with a much deserved gift. Our family continues to pray for your daughters. We understand the struggles in dealing with both the life threatening aspects as well as the financial implications. Your family has been blessed. "God will not leave you orphaned." Keep your faith, trust in God and ENJOY YOUR HOUSE!!!!!Congratulations, Rachelle Demny and the Victor Tichacek Family

My family moved from Rosenberg to East Bernard 10 1/2 years ago and attend the same church as your family. Since living here, I have always been touched by the story of Tara and Sara and the battle they were fighting. The Extreme Makeover:Home Edition Show has always been my favorite show to watch. In fact, I get so involved in the families story on the show that I never really payed that close attention to the names of the designers, except for Ty of course and Ed Sanders. Now I know them all. I am so glad Laura Kubena took a chance and submitted your families story to the show. It is nice to know the designers from the show are genuine and caring people. That means a lot. I was a spectator the day of the Reveal and have to admit to shedding tears of joy along with you. Thanks to Royce Builders, Extreme Makeover:Home Edition and all the volunteers for making this incredible event happen. You are a very deserving family and I hope you have many happy memories in your new "Dream" home. Our prayers will continue for Tara and Sara and all of your extended family. God Bless you all. - Monica Petrosky - East Bernard

I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am 19 and I currently am attending Texas Lutheran University, I grew up in Needville, so everytime I go to visit family I pass through East Bernard. When my grandma called and told my dad about the makeover my dad called me and told me and I was EXSTATIC! Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is the one show my dad and I watch every Sunday night. As last week went by, I was on the school computers looking to see the progress of this great miracle! I know how it is to be going through the things ya'll have. I was born with many complications as a girl, and as of today I have had 27 operations (7 eye), and I thank God everyday that I am here fulfilling my dreams. I also know about cancer. When I was 11, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and battled for 2 years at M.D. Anderson. In 2000, we lost her, but I know that this has just made me stronger as a young woman. Every story I hear of a young child with cancer I pray that they get well and get to have as much fun as they possibly can. I hope you enjoy your new home, and I can't wait till I go visit Needville and get to pass your house! I have a little trick that worked for me with my mom........remember to laugh and smile because they help you get through the long, hard, bad days! Lots of Love- Jacqueline Lamensky

I'am one of the sister-in-laws to John and his family, and I just want to say thankyou to Royce Builders for such an awesome job. Everyone involved was so nice and kind. Your hearts are huge and your generosity of time amazing. We can't thankyou enough. John and Monica are just beside themselves and overwhelmed with shear joy. You don't know how much this has meant to them and the children. This family has been through so much and now they can breathe alittle easier. Keep doing an awesome job! God Bless you John and Monica. We love you!Phyllis Kubena, LaVernia, Texas

Dear, Kubena Family I do not know you personally, but, reading your touching story, makes me feel like I do. I don't know what it's like to have two children with Leukemia, but, I do know what it feels like to have Cancer. I was 32 yrs. old when I discovered a lump in my left Breast. A week later I was finding out the horrible news, the lump was not only in my Breast but also spreading very quickly. My Surgeon quickly put me in the hospital the following Monday for my Surgery. I then underwent 8 Chemo Treatments, so many nights, forcing myself to eat, sometimes only popsicles, other days, not being able to even get out of bed. I have two wonderful children, twins that is, a Boy and a Girl, who at the timee grew up very quickly just trying to take care of me. I was so sick at times, I would just sit on the bathroom floor and cry. After my treatmens were over, I thought the worst was behind me, not only to find out, the Cancer was back, and now in the right Breast. Which this time, my Mammogram had picked it up, before it spread. Another 4 Chemo treatments, making me sicker then ever before. Looking back on my journey with Cancer, I can truly say, it's not easy for an Adult, more less a Child. But, no matter what, God has a plan for everyone, he always see's us through the hard times. My children, my mother and I drove up Sunday, the 22nd, to watch. It was such an "Honor" to be a part of something so "Wonderful". It is also so nice to see, a small Community pulling together, for such a "Wonderful Loving Family".Always remember, that dreams do happen. You must never give up, but, always live your life to the fullest. You are such a "Deserving Family" and I know that you will enjoy your New Home. It's absolutely Gorgeous.

And to the "Extreme Makeover Team" and "Royce Builders"......."WAY TO GO"!!!

We drove by your new home one evening during the construction and it was unbelievable. Richard was able to bethere when you all arrived at your new home and described in great detail all of the excitement. It is truly wonderfulthat something like this can happen in our area and especially to a very deserving family. We hope you enjoy yournew home and we will continue to keep you in our prayers. Thank you Royce Builders, Extreme Makeover, and all of themany volunteers and donations for making this a huge success for the Kubena's. We look forward to seeing the showair on ABC very soon.

I just wanted to wish your family the best of luck in the future. I have 2 small children ( 9 year old daughter and 18 month old son) and we went on Sunday to see your new house being built. It was an awsome experience. I was so happy to see the comminity come together for a great cause. Your whole family is in my prayers. Thank you to Extreme Makeover and Royce Builders you guys are wonderful. Can't wait to see it on tv. Once again good luck and everything will be ok with the twins.

Our hearts go out to all of you. We first read about your family and the twins in an article in the Catholic Lighthouse and were so very touched and couldn't help but keep you in our prayers. Having one sick child is overbearing, so we can't even imagine having two with such serious illness, but we know God is keeping you all in the Palm of His Hand. We are so Thankful that Extreme Makeover chose you for the new home and for Royce Builders to take on the project. You are a very deserving family and we are so proud and happy for you. Enjoy your new home to the fullest. We will continue to pray for full recoveries for both of the girls. God Bess you all.

I grew up in East Bernard and went to school with one of the "Kubena boys", so I was really inspired to come to the building site on Saturday. The emotions I felt from this experience really surprised me. My dad and I stood in line for over an hour at Riverside Hallto wait our turn to board a school bus to go to the building sight. The wait didn't seem that long. I chatted with friends and neighbors thatI haven't seen since I grew up and left home more than 25 years ago. What really touched me were the ages of the people in line. I saw"old folks" with walkers and babies snuggled up with their mothers. I saw a former neighbor, fighting late-stage cancer and barely ableto walk with assistance, get on the bus. Standing in line and visiting seemed like a family reunion, but I know from growing up inEast Bernard, everyone is like family. It was cold and rainy, but no one was complaining.

At the building site I was totally awed by size and efficiency during construction. All the volunteers reminded me of blue ants. There werea lot of them, but every one of them were focused on a mission. I was so impressed that some of the volunteers brought snacks to thoseof us watching. This was truely a mission of love and fellowship.

At the end of the day I felt truely blessed to have witnessed this wonderful event. I know that my brother Mark, who volunteered sixhours on the project, feels very fortunate to have had this "once in a lifetime" opportunity. His participation has emphasized the importancein "giving to others". (He is very proud of his blue shirt and hard hat.)

From the outside looking in, this is an event I will never forget. The generosity of the people in East Bernard does not surprise me. Thereare very few places like East Bernard. I feel very fortunate to have grown up there.

God bless the Kubenas, Royce Builders, the volunteers and "Extreme Makeover". You have taught us that love, compassion and serving others really do make this world a better place. God made the whole universe in a week. Royce Builders, volunteers and "Extreme Makeover" madea home that affected the lives of so may people. I am so fortunate to have been able to experience this.

Dear Kubena Family,I wanted to send our prayers to you and your daughters. The Lord is great! I can atest to that. Less than one year ago, I was diagnoised with multiple illnesses. I became unable to care for myself, my four children and my husband. I was admitted to the hospital for the last time with directions to make "plans". To prepare our children. Overnight the Lord healed me. I continue to seek Him and His direction for my life. I pray you will do the same. I am putting your family on our prayer chain as well. God Bless, and I am so glad the Royce Builders are helping you. Thank God for people like them.

My husband and I were at the build site as volunteers on Friday and Saturday. We drove an hour and a half each way because we just wanted to be a part of this. It was so amazing to see the house going up and the sheer number of people that were working on it. I pray that the Kubena family has many happy, healthy years in this beautiful home. It was an honor to be able to help work on it. God Bless the Kubena family, Royce Builders and all of the generous donators that made this possible.

Dear Monica and John and kids,I met you through Parents Against Cancer a few years ago and knew then what a truly incredible family you were and how very blessed thee children were to have parents like you. When I heard the news about what was about to take place, I could not think of a more deserving family for this to happen to than all of you. God makes miracles happen all the time and this is just one more way of how we all are blessed and should continue to count our blessings. I know that Tara and Sara will be completely cured one day to where you never have to worry about relapse again and that God will completely heal Tara from this setback.Enjoy your new home which you so deserve, I pray to God that the goals for the medical bills have been met above and beyond what you will need. Can't wait to see the show. You all have been such a blessing and a honor to have met and I think this is so awesome. God Bless all the people including Royce Homes and all the wonderful people at ABC who made it happen. Can't wait to see the photo's. The directors of Parents Against Cancer are so excited for all of you and on cloud nine. Just remember a cure will be found one day and kids will not have to continue to suffer and lose their lives to pediatric cancer. Thanks for volunteering with Parents Against Cancer and we will see you again this year....

Sincerely,Becky Barnett

My son Dylan was one of the children who presented the tree to Eduardo for the Kubena family. He told me that it was really neat to be able able to do that for the family. He told me that he "hopes that they (especially Tara) feel better soon so they can be a survivor like me." He too was diagnosed with leukemia in Oct. 1998 when he was 3 years old. In April 2006 he will have been off of chemo for 5 years! My husband Patrick and I are from EB and know the Kubena family. Patrick actually graduated from high school with "Aunt Laura" and it was great to be able to see her and talk to her about this most remarkable "makeover." I was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer during the makeover on Sunday evening and I feel blessed to be able to have been a part of this. Royce is wonderful....the home is absolutely beautiful. No greater blessing can come from this (for the Kubenas) other than that Tara and Sara be completely cured of their leukemia. I want them and their family to know that we pray for them daily and we hope that they soon will be able to live a "normal" life like we have been blessed with. Dylan will be 11 years old in Feb. but the days of chemo, ER visits, hospitalizations, surgeries, etc. are still vivid in our minds. We look forward to the day we can visit with John and Monica about "everything." Thank you Royce Builders for giving the Kubenas a very special new home to share together. Kubena Family -

It was a true blessing to be able to volunteer our time this past weekend! Your family is truly loved by your community, family, and those who dont even know you! I wish that your family could have seen everyone working in such harmoney - from the contractors to the volunteers , it was an orchestrated miracle no doubt! No one fussed, complained or even seemed the least bit annoyed even when the house had 100 + people inside at one time. Royce Homes did an awesome job at keeping everyone on schedule and running smoothly. It was something too see hundreds of folks focused on the imporatnce of the moment at every moment!

I have never been so dirty in my life and loved every minute knowing that I was a part of your new home! We just fell in love with Grandpa too - he is such a sweet man! May your family enjoy the new "spread" for years and years to come! Thank you for blessing our lives as well through this event!

Best of Everything!

While I was not able to get in to volunteer for the build, I am glad the reason was because there were so many people that wanted to help. This is truly a house built on love - from the family and friends that helped to the spectators that cheered them on to the cast and crew of Extreme Makeover - Home Edition and the Royce Builders team, everyone was working 24/7 out of love and compassion for you. Even from the spectator area, you could tell everyone was putting their heart and soul in to this home. The entire greater Houston area is praying for all of you and I personally hope you really enjoy your new wonderful home and that God be with Tara and your family throughout her recovery.

Frances Uhyrek - Houston (formerly Wallis)

It has been such an amazing and joyful experience the past 7 days. On reveal day, the anticipation was overcoming. From the prayerpagers, money donations, photos to driving to East Bernard to see the house being built was just awsome. The love being shared by all the volunteers in building the house and people praying and just thinking about the family was wonderful. The Kubena family will be in all our hearts forever. God works many miracles when we give our problems to him and this was proof of his amazing grace. The joy Ifelt yesterday waiting for the family just brightened my day. Cancer can be such an awful disease in which I can relate to. I had a parentwith cancer and at the same time the other parent facing colon surgery. I thank God today both are healthy and doing well. For the Kubena family, remember God in your life and lean on him as well as family and friends for help. Royce Builders, beautiful home for such a wonderful family. Continue to help people who need help and you will be awarded one day.

Johanna Buechmann - Sealy, TX

It's wonderful to see that there are still nice people and nice things happening in the world! I wish continued blessings to the Kubena family, the entire Extreme Makeover Home Addition crew and the Royce Builders family. I am a KSBJ listener and my prayers have been with the family and all involved. Ty is my Sunday night date......everyone knows that wherever I am, I have to watch the show. I don't miss the show and I cry a good-happy cry each Sunday. I love it! May the Kubena family continue to be blessed and may God's healingbe with the twins. Royce Builders - may you continue to be a blessing to others!

Sherryl Bush - Barrett Station (Crosby)

I'm still beside myself, thanking God for choosing not only your family to be blessed with the new home, but also for choosing Royce Builders and everyone who are faithfully donating to your family. God is so amazingly wonderful and it really does take "a village to raise a child. " Extreme Makeover, Royce Builders, Gallery Furniture, KSBJ prayer partners and everyone who has helped in anyway, truely havestepped up to the plate to help raise up this family. I'm especially fond of the twins, because I'm a twin also. May God continue to bless the family and bless everyone who made this possible for the Kubena's.

Sherrye Eagleton - Texas

Congratualtions on your new home!! I have not seen the finished product, but was able to make it out to the construction site last Thursday for a quick site visit and on Friday to volunteer. My aunt and I were assigned to prepare / serve food to the construction workers and production crew. It brought us both a great deal of pleasure to participate in such a worthwhile project. My hat goes off to the generosity of Royce Builders, Gallery Furniture, and the countless other companies / organizations that gave so generously to your family. I can't wait to see your story and the revealing of your new home when the show airs sometime next month. May God continue to bless your family and may He also restore health to your daughters. Cheers to the Kubena family and thank you for allowing me to participate in your Extreme Makeover.

We are all so excited and happy for you guys. Yesterday when we realized you would be driving right by the Murphy plant I rushed in to make a sign to put out on the highway. Then somebody else suggested we all stand out by the road so we could cheer you on as you drove by. About noon we realized that someone had taken the sign and so we rushed to make another, stealing a Royce blue arrow sign to use their stake (sorry guys). When Karla and I went out to put up the new sign we saw the rest of your co-workers coming out to join us . As we waited and waited most of them got tired and went back to work (or rest ha ha). When you finally came by and we saw how happy and excited you all were it made it all worth the wait.

East Bernard was buzzing with excitement since you have been gone. All the people from Royce and ABC were very nice and it was fun having them around town. Thanks for the experience.

This was such a wonderful expenience, not only for you, but for the whole community. Just so good to see the good in people . Best of luck to your entire family. Thank you Royce Builders for making this happen.

I was truly blessed and expecially excited to hear that one of our local families were being blessed with an Extreme Makeover House. I don't know the Kubena family but after watching the show the other night, I feel like I have known them forever. I just want to let you know that Jeremaih 29:11 says that "God has a plan and a purpose for your lives". The bible also says to "Count it all joy when we face trials and tribulations in our lives for great is our reward". I truly believe that God has his angels surrounding your family and that He sent angels to take care of you such as the Extreme Makeover Team. Be Blessed and enjoy your new home. You deserve it!

I just finished watching extreme makeover. And I have to say that I have cried the whole time. I don't know if you really relize what your company and the extrem makeover team has done for this family. My brother died 10 years about of the same thing. My family was very lucky that my parents had the money to help him fight for 6 long years! I know that the transplant and hospital stay was well over 1 million dollars. As I am still crying I just want to say THANK YOU for so many family that have gone through the same thing. I know my parents and I have talked about what people do if they could not afford the things that their child needs, that is why we alway stay in touch with the hospital that my bother had his transplant and help when ever we can. I am going to talk to them in the morning about this show. I know we will all want to help. Thank you again and please let the extreme team how much their show has touched someone that really understands what this family has gone through.

Dear Monica & John,

You may not remember me but I am Darlene's sister who use to be your roommate and lived byyour sister Beverly.

I cried the whole way through the show. I was so happy to see the excitement in your family. It was amazing to have Royce Builders put up such a beautiful home in just a few days. I workwith a lady who's husband and herself voluntered and provided all of the landscaping. It was amazingto hear how much hard work was put into such a beautiful project. I know you and your familywill enjoy it for years to come.

Your family is an example for us.We admire you all. You'll be always in our prayings and your miracle is an example of what God can do for our children:making His work through the hands of the doctors and nurses of this hospital. I would like to say to the Family, keep your heads up and keep God first. God knows that our children are the future and trust me, he will take care of them. I have seen firsthand the treatments that the kids go through because I am employed at one of greatest Cancer Centerin the world, which is right across the street from where your daughters are being treated. Take care and this love comes from me and my 4 children.

Monica, I was so surprised to hear this was your story on television. Remember the good times we shared as roommates when you first moved to Houston. I am so sorry for everything you have had to indure with your girls. I'm sorry that we have all been busy with our lives, but I hope we can be in touch with each other in the near future. You really deserve everything you have received. I couldn't imagine having to go through what you have been through. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. All my love, Darlene

Darlene Jarrar - Houston

My name is Annette. My Dad, Robert "Bob" Chumchal, was born, raised, lived and died in East Bernard. He had esophageal cancer which returned as liver cancer. He passed away on Dec. 4th, 2005. My sister and I were both born in Wharton, TX. While we were down in January, we heard about the wonderful event happening in East Bernard with Extreme Home Makeover and your family. Our hearts went out to y'all. We figured being a very small town, y'all probably knew my father. I wish that he could have had the opportunity to experience the history taking place in East Bernard that week, but more importantly, the overwhelming bond that everyone in town felt with each other knowing that so many people were taking part in this event and in your new home. As I watched the episode on TV, I couldn't help but cry...the whole show...partly due to the beauty of your family and the blessing y'all were receiving, and partly due to wishing that my father could watch with me and hear him say "I know him", "I know her", "I've seen those little girls at Klecka's". He would have watched in awe with a good feeling in his heart...with pride as an East Bernardian. We still come down often to visit relatives and Dad's resting place. We hope to see y'all around. We will pray for y'all. We know the pain and endurance required to support a sick loved one...and we don't envy your situation...for health is everything and so much of our happiness depends only on our health. Even though we may have never met, I feel like y'all are family. God continue to bless y'all. Much love and prayers.

Annette Woodruff - Granbury, TX

We just watched the show. We have been hoping that a deserving family from this area would be selected for an e/h/m. We lost both of our daughters to Fanconi Anemia, a form of leukemia. Both had bone marrow transplants but neither survived. We are very familiar with the face masks and the up and down series of blood counts. The Kubenas look like a close, wonderful family that really needed a bigger home. We're so glad that the air purification system was installed. Paw Paw and all of your family loves the girls and your other daughter and son. It's easy to see that this will be a home full of love and support. We have a friends in Rosenburg so we know where East Bernard is. Your new home looks beautiful. We also liked the fact that your trailer was not demolished but given to someone who needs it.To ROYCE BUILDERS, how great it is to see builders and their employees, contractors and all of your friends donate their time and money to help you during this rough time. Best of luck to all of you, especially Tara and Sara. God bless you, we'll keep you in our prayers.

Tommy and Brenda Seiford - Kingwood, Texas

Dear Kubena Family; I have just watched the show and I am truly amazed that there are so many people who helped make your dreams come true so that you could bring your daughter home-we had a similar situation with our oldest child he spent time at Texas Children's in Houston and I know what the seperation feels like-it hurts to watch your children suffer from illness-- all I can say is that I am very happy for all of you and to let you know that I have been following your story since January because I have family that lives in East Bernard (most people ask where is that-if they watched the show tonight now thay know). I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family--you truly deserved a home in which to keep your family together and help your child be able to come home!!! I could not help but cry when Tara said that she wanted to be a baby again and Ty asked why--then she replied so she could stay in this world---I am sure many tears fell on that remark!!! I will keep you all in my prayers and may God keep you in his care always!! The Ray Family--- Beaumont,Texas

Your story about your family really moved my heart. I have had many close relatives ill and in the hospial for a long time, and yes the bill s do add up fast. I just haven't had to go through what your family has with a child. Your twin girls remind me of my twin grand-daughters, about the same age. Full of laughter and then when they get serious, the sadness really shows. I wish the best for your family and hope the twins overcome their illness. Best wishes in your new home. Take care of each other and God will take care of you!

I have been through it all I have almost lost our home twice and my wife and I are still fighting to get caught up. We both are in our late 40s and have a 3 year old boy. Pray and wait n God you never lose when yo;u wait on God. My wife was sick for 3 years and we all know one income its impossible to make it. Our lights, gas has been off several times. Every time we were about to lose everything ewe worked so hard for God would put something in front of us to save us everytime. I learned that my wants are not important but God will supply all your needs. Thats why these builders are helping you today because God has move them to help you nothing happens by mistake I know this to be so true. Remember these words I am still having financial pressure but i am humble to God for his grace not letting us lose all wwe have. These words have got us through. My wife and i has been through the storm and back again and again but the best is yet to come. There are people out here that caare just leavve it to God and he will send them to you. I dont know these builders or show but just from seeing how many people they have helped it brought tears to my eyes just to see someone being helped and spared by Gods grace. I also thank God for these people helping people. Many people dont know i felt the same way i felt no one in the world care whaat happned to me and my family. So i pray that my story helped you some how and i thank God once again for the people that are helping you and your family. If i had money i would love to help but we can continue to pray for you and your family.

Dear Kubena Family,When I read your story my heart went out to you. I thankfully have two little girls who are healthy. My husband's mother died from leukemia when he was eleven. She was only 31. I've often wonderedif it is genetic and if any of my children would have a chance of getting it as well. I still live in that fear.As a parent I can only imagine what all of you are going through. I may not be able to help your familybut I can offer my prayers. I will pray for your two little girls and I will pray for you the parents. I will pray for the doctor's involved and I will pray for your family as a whole. Stay strong and know thatall of you are in the prayers of many people.Sincerely,Anita Greensge

Welcome Home Kubena Family! Your story touched my heart and I wanted to be a part of such a wonderful blessing. My sister and I got up bright and early to go to the reveal. It was Amazing to see this whole thing come together. But what was really amazing was to see that a small town like East Bernard came together to help! No only EB, but small towns near by joined in. When you guys pulled up in the Limo, I cried "Tears Of Joy" for a family I felt so close to, but have never met. I'm so happy that the Extreme Home Makeover chose your family.I have kept you all in my prayers and pray that the little girls will beat this! God Bless You All! P.S. I have some really great pictures I'd love to give to you if you would like them.

My sister and I really wanted to volunteer after we heard about the family on KSBJ. We didn't get down in time (the volunteer list filled up rather quickly!). We joined other listeners in praying for Tara and Sara and were filled with joy to find out Tara would be able to come home for the reveal. At that, we were determined to be there to cheer on the family and show our support for the girls. We made our signs ecourageing others to "Pray Over" the family and headed down on Monday (bravinig the cold temperature and camping out) to be sure we would be right in front to welcome home the WHOLE family. We had the opportunity to meet Ty and most of the designers and were blown away by their sincere compassion and desire to touch the Kubena family's life. We wanted to physically help on the project, but we know our prayers made a physical difference and we will continue to pray for complete and total healing until we hear those prayers have been answered as well. Royce Builders, you had a great hand in a miracle. Kubena's, CONGRATULATIONS! We are so happy for you!

Rosa Hamblin - Conroe, TX

Dear Sara and Tara, What a joy it is to dance with you in Christian ballet at Mrs. Tina's. I can't wait until practice again when I get to lift Sara. It will be so much fun when I get to see your smiling faces dancing together again. Our dances at the Pro-Life rally were dedicated to your family. I hope you enjoyed the flowers. Our hopes and prayers are with you and your family. Congratulations! Love, Trisha Polak

Monica, John & Family; Since my parents live a couple of miles from you, my entire family witnessed the building of your new home. It was amazing to see what could happen in a few hours. The expressions on your faces were very emotional. There wasn't a dry eye in our crowd. We were right in the front of the limo when you all stepped out. It was a moment I will never forget. God Bless Your Entire Family & hopefully we will see you all at the family reunion. P. S. Congratulations on the college scholarships for the children. You all deserve everything you received. Susan Jochec

SUSAN JOCHEC - EAST BERNARD, TEXAS

John, Monica & family:

This is great, unbeliveable, and marvelous that this happened to your family. Really, words cannot express how great of a feeling this for our family. We tried to volunteer but could not as there were too many volunteers. The boys' girlfriends came out on Tueday when all of you came home. I could not as I could not get off of work. When things settle down for you, I will be by to see you.

I know that Dan would have been there helping and cheering for all of the family if he was able.

Our family will continue to keep the family in our prayers, especially the twins.

Hey John!!...I heard the cool news about EMHE from Jeff Speck today. We were both in Freeport at the shipyard. I've thought about you a lot over the years and am so happy for you and your family. I know that even with this large blessing, your focus is still on helping others and on your precious children. I've told many about our hunting trip together and am glad you have been a part of my life on this earth. I'll say a special prayer tonight for you and your family and there is no one else I can think that is nicer or more deserving of this than you. Take care John and family.

Dear Kubena Family,

Congratulations on a beautiful new home! We wish your family the BEST! When my 5 yr old daughter saw that the Extreme Makeover Show was building a house for two other little girls that go to Texas Children's Hospital all the time she wanted to see the house being built. My daughter, Mackenzie, has Type 1 Diabetes and we have been in and out of TX Children's, which she calls the "Fishie Doctors" (due to all of their colorful fish tanks) since she was 1yr old. Even though she is only 5 yrs old, she knew that going to the Fishie Doctors made these girls special like her and she wanted to share a little part of their new home. GOD BLESS you all! You and your girls will be in our prayers.

Warmly,

Lori, Mackenzie & Mason Criswell

AS SOON AS I GOT AN E-MAIL GIVING ME THE INFO., I E-MAILED & CALLED ROYCE BUILDERS TO VOLUNTEER & REALLY GOT EXCITED WHEN THEY CALLED TO GIVE ME THE TIMES AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEER. I GOT TO HELP ON MONDAY NIGHT ALONG WITH MY TWO SONS & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. OUR FAMILY JUST PURCHASED THE WHARTON SEARS STORE, SO IT MADE IT EXTRA SPECIAL FOR US TO GET TO HELP OUT SINCE SEARS IS A SPONSOR OF THE SHOW. MY JOB WAS TO TAPE HEAVY PAPER ON THE FLOORS SO NO ONE WOULD SCRATCH THEM UP WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC COMING & GOING INTO THE HOUSE. THEY, AS WELL AS THE WHOLE HOUSE IS AWESOME!!! TUESDAY P.M., I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE DIRECTING TRAFFIC INTO THE ROAD TO YOUR HOUSE RIGHT WHERE YOU ALL PARKED THE LIMO. & WAITED. I GOT TO SEE YOU ALL, BRIEFLY, WHEN YOU GOT OUT OF THE CAR & WENT INSIDE THE ESTABLISHMENT (I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT), BEFORE YOU ALL WERE DRIVEN TO YOUR HOUSE TO SEE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. MY GRANDDAUGHTER, BRITTANY SANCHEZ, E.BERNARD, 6TH GRADER, KNOWS YOUR GIRLS & GOT TO BE IN THE CROWD IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE WHEN YOU ALL ARRIVED. WHEN I READ THE ARTICLE ABOUT YOUR SON GOING INTO THE NAVY, I REALLY GOT EXCITED. MY 18 YR.OLD GRANDSON, ROBERT THOMAS BARNETT, JUST GRADUATED FROM BOOTCAMP, GREAT LAKES, IL. & WILL BE STATIONED THERE FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS. I'M SENDING HIM THE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES SO MAYBE THEY CAN MEET ONCE YOUR SON GETS OUT OF BOOTCAMP, IF HE IS STATIONED THERE. HOPEFULLY, I CAN FIND OUT THRU ONE OF YOU MANY FRIENDS WHERE HE IS STATIONED. YOUR GIRLS HAVE BEEN ON MY PRAYER LIST FOR AWHILE NOW, THRU TERRY VASEK'S E-MAILS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR NEW HOME. BECKY (MRS. KEN) BARNETT, WHARTON

BECKY BARNETT - WHARTON

I have been following your story on the internet and can't wait for the story to air!!! I wanted to share our family's miracle with you. Our niece was diagnosed with lukemia at the age of 3 years. She is now graduating from pharmacy school in May and is 25 years old. Our prays and thoughts are with you all right now and with faith and the wonderful work doctors are now doing with this disease, one day we'll be reading about your daughters and their college graduation. Best of luck and good wishes to both of you and all your children from the Eckelbergs.

I'm so happy I was able to help in some way for your family. It has been an amazing experience to see so many people come together and do something so special. When the bus moved I felt my soul move as well. Your reaction was priceless. I look forward to meeting all of you in person so I can give you a big hug! :)

Clint Bounds - The Woodlands, TX

What a blessing to have been a part of helping your family! I was overwhelmed with emotion as I watched you step out of the limo to see what the Extreme Home Makeover Team and Royce Builders along with hundreds of volunteers did for you. There is no one more deserving than your family. Having had a child with cancer, I know what it is like to hurt for your children. I also know that there is nothing that you want more for your girls than to be cancer free and be able to live a normal childhood. We all pray that Tara will continue to get better and that Sara will remain in good health. Colby was so thrilled that he could be a part of planting the "tree" for all of you. I hope that each time you look at that tree, it will give you hope for the future. You have a wonderful family and we all fill a part of what you have gone through. May God continue to Bless and Keep you over the coming years. Enjoy that beautiful house and make many wonderful memories in it. And John, just remember... Class of '82 Rocks!!!Kim, Mark, Colby, Kaitlyn and Kenzie Floyd

To John & MonicaI am a classmate of John and want to wish you and your family all the blessing you deserve. I was one of the many volunteers that were ablt to bring you home to this wonderful gift. To John, I thought it was so touching when you saw me after coming home from Iraq and how you just wanted to hug me and know that I had made it home safely. Even with everything your family was going through your heart went out to me and my family. Your family is so deserving and my prayers will continue for you and your family. May God Bless you and watch over you and your family always.

Hi Kubena family!

I spent most of Saturday night helping with your house... it was an amazing experience in every way.

I want you all to know that every scrap of wood, every stone, and every piece of furniture in your house was put there with an incredible amount of love. We love you, and wish you all the best!

Kate Scarbrough - Houston

We wish you all the best in your new home. We hope you can feel God smiling on you through all these thousands of people who are so eager to help your family. It is such a hopeless feeling when you can only watch someone go through the ordeal your family has been through and not be able to help with anything. I believe people jumped at the chance to make your lives a little better in the physical sense since they can't heal your family's ills. May God guide you and may your future be bright and shining and full of happy days..... Sincerely, the Merta Family

Donna Merta - El Campo, TX

I just wanted to say congratulations on your new home and best wishes for the future. You family is very lucky to have people who care enough to do this for you. We are new residents of Houston. My family lost our home in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. The people of Texas have been so great to us, helping us re-build our lives. I wish nothing but health and happiness for your family. Congrats again and stay strong.

Kristen & Family Dugas - Houston-Previously New Orleans

Hi Kubena family,

I watch the Extreme Makeover Home Edition every week. I was truly excited that a family so deserving as you were chosen. I am a cancer survisor myself. In May 2003 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, went through surgery and chemo. It is an awful thing to have to go through. I can't imagine having two small children having cancer. I know my strength through it all was my Lord and Saviour. I can't imagine going through something so terrible without the Lord. I am a pastor's wife and I will be praying for you and your family and will share it with our church family. Here is a verse out of the Bible that I claimed when I was told I had cancer. II Kings 20:5 - "...I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee:..." Doctors can do all that they can do, my God is the great physician. Just hang on to that. I look forward to hearing great reports on your family.

God bless you.

Debbie Netterville - Pasadena, TX

Hello Kubena Family!

Remember God never puts no more on us than we can handle. Phil. 4:13 - "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me."You have stood on these words for quite some time and now it is time for you to reap the benefits. God's dream for your life is much bigger and greater than you can ever imagine. Because of your obedience and faith, you will continue to receive ALL God has in store for your life."It shall be done according to your faith." Matt. 9:29Congratulations on your new home and I know there will be so much enjoyment having every family member together again.Especially, Little Tara.

God Bless You!

Pam Thomas - Houston

God BLESS you!! First of all I would like to tell ya'll that there is nothing impossible for God. In my church there WAS a situation similar to what you all are going through. There is a special family there that was struggling with the same battle you all are going through. They had their son with Leukemia for a few years, but GOD showed us how powerful HE is!!!! He completely healed his life and there is not one cell in his body with this sickness. Have faith in GOD and believe he will breakthrough this. His word tells us that there is not a trial he gives us that we cannot handle. Be strong and have faith in out mighty God!!!! Remember that He sent his son to die on that cross for ALL of our sins and sickness, not just SOME but ALL!!!!! I encourage you all to seek him and you will see how He can move in ya'lls life. If He did it for that little boy, He can surely do it for your little girls. May the LORD of all the GLORY BLESS YOU ALL IN A MIRACULOUS WAY!!!!! Ya'll are in my prayers.

Dear Kubena Family,

I made it out to East Bernard on Saturday in hopes of being a spectator at the construction site of your new home. However, at thetime I arrived, they had shut down letting anyone else get in line for the viewing. So, I came back on Sunday. Unfortunately, it wascold and rainy, but I did not let that dampen by enthusiasm to go watch. Even though I did not get to volunteer to help out, I still feel blessed to have witnessed such a special event.

Monica and John, may God bless your entire family. I hope that Sara, Tara, Kelly and Brady are enjoying their new home. I know that you and your family have been through a lot, and it is my wish that this Extreme Home Makeover that you just received be the beginning to a happier and healthier new year.

Jaclyn Guynes - Humble

I first heard about this surprise at work on the radio, KULP, and could not believe it. We listened daily to the live updates and were just as excited as being there. Your family is so deserving of all of this. I could not imagine having one child with leukemia and you have had TWO. I was really disappointed that we did not get to volunteer--we tried, but the slots filled up so fast!!!! That just shows there are so many good people out there. Extreme Makeover Home Edition is one of the best things that has ever happened on this earth. We got to be spectators, coming out several times on the school bus. I am so glad that you are all together now. You will continue to be in our thoughts andprayers.

When I found out that Extreme Makeover was building a house very close to where I grew up, I almost didn't believe it. I was disappointed to not be able to see the house for myself, but searched the internet for anything I could find related to the build. It is amazing to see what good people do for one another in a world where so many are focused on how to make a name for themselves and "get ahead." My prayer is that the Kubena family will continue to be blessed by the surrounding community, and that God will fully and finally heal the twins. May God bless the Kubena family and all who worked so hard to fulfill a dream.

Due to my job I was unable to volunteer, but I was at the work site every afternoon, Saturday, Sunday, all afternoon on Monday and from 8am to 5:30pm on Tuesday. The event was sureal, amazing, and so very emotional. If I could do it again I would in a heart beat. There is no doubt that this family is very deserving. My dad went to school with Henry and Birdie Jo, so it was like family getting everything they need & deserved. God bless everyone who made this possible and keep Tara & Sara happy & HEALTHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Connie Herman - Eagle Lake, Texas

We have twin girls, Natalie and Holly, who are 6 years old. When we went to visit the home site, all the girls could do was talk about the Kubena girls and how lucky they are. "Why are they lucky?" I said. Natalie and Holly said, "They are twins like us and they can protect each other. They will get well." They should know. Natalie was born with complications and Holly has always been a mother to her. I have seen the love between twins heal for myself....The girls have been drawing pictures for Sara and Tara and hope to meet them someday to play. We pray for the girls every night and we are happy they have been blessed with a healthy home for them.

God bless you and your family! It is wonderful to see a deserving family have a wish come true! Along with the new houseyou received the blessing of knowing that so many people can come together and care for one another. I drove by yournew house yesterday while taking my mother for a breast biopsy in Houston and even she shared the wonder of all, knowing that she might be in the same situation. You have been blessed with beautiful children, and I will pray for them all.

My 5 yr old daughter, sister in law & I drove 200 miles round trip to be a part of this blessing for the Kubena family. I tried to be a volunteer but the slots filled up QUICK! So we were spectators. We couldn't miss the opportunity to be somewhat of a part. What a beautiful home for this precious family. They deserve this. I'm praying for sweet little Sara & Tara & the other family members as well. 89.3FM KSBJ of Houston has given Monica, what they're calling, a prayer pager. I've paged ya Monica, along w/ MANY MANY others to let you know I am praying!! I don't know you but still feel a bond w/ this family, thru prayer that is. I'm praying for financial blessing & healing for your sweet baby girls. I can't imagine seeing my 5 yr old daughter or 6 month old son suffer like your girls have. Remember, THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH. God bless,Stephanie Hendrix

It is so nice to see a family in our area get the help that they need. I have a 6 year old son and cannot even imagine what it would be likeif he was diagnosed with such a serious illness as your two girls. I wish you happiness and my prayers are with you and your children. Iam thankful that you do live in such a giving community as East Bernard, I have many friends whom live there and it is a community that cares about the people whom live there. Hi.. my name is sierrah wilson. I attend faith academy in Bellville ,Texas . I am a 8th grader who loves the show extreme make over home ed edition, and has never missed an episode. Their has been some really great families but you are definently my favorite. Ever since i have found out about your family, my bible class and I were praying for sara and tara and we still still are. My family and I felt similar to ya'll because both of my brothers were frequent visitors to Texas Childrens. When my little brother was a baby the doctors told us that he would not live very much longer because he had a hole in his heart. Well... a few hundred prayers later and two surgeries sawyer was fine and have never been so alive. My other brother Seth who is almost two now was two months premature. When my mom went to go see the {baby doctor} the doctor told her to have an abortion because their was no baby in her womb. We ended up not having an abortion and Seth is very happy baby boy. I truly believe with all my heart, mind, strength, and soul that tara and sara will get better so they can grow up to be dazzling young ladies. I hope you enjoy your new house made with love and know that that the wilson family is praying for you. WE LOVE Y'ALL love ... sierrah wilson

Congratulations on your new home. Your story touched the lives of many and you are a deserving family of such a wonderful gift. It is such a beautiful home on the outside. Your family will now make the inside a beautiful place especially since you can all be at home and not be separated for such a long time. God bless your family and home for many, many years.

I think this is wonderful what you are doing for this family. I cannot imagine both my children going through cancer treatment. My youngest daughter is also a cancer patient going through treatment at Texas Children's Hospital Cancer Center, which is very kid oriented and are there every step of the way. Even though I have not met the twins and their family, I think they are very courageous and my thoughts and prayers are with the twins and family. My daughter can't wait to see the episode on TV.

I just wanted to let you know that we were there yesterday. It was amazing to see what was done when the community comes together.

We also have twin girls ourself. We are blessed and hope that the new environment will help your daughters get well soon.

We are stong Christians and will be praying for you and your family daily. We also came out on Sunday- I could not believe the amount of people watching and volunteering- it was amazing.

May God continue to bless you. If there is ANYTHING that we can do to help, just let us know. As I mentioned, we have twins, they are in the third grade. They were there all day yesterday as well. They would like to meet your daughters sometime.

Also- the bus drivers and all the helpers were so nice- they made us feel at home- even though we were strangers.

One last thing, I am in the food business- I can provide some items at your request.

I am so greatful to have been a part of the building process for the Kubena family. The story of their fight really touched close to home, therefore I was more invested in this project. I also ran in to a friend of mine from the Corps of Cadets, Ryan Knape, and discovered he was a relative of yours. I know now more than ever how far the Aggie family is extended and also know that we can never give enough, but just a little to let you know that we care. Thank you again...

Josh Connor - Houston

Dear Kubena family,

I just want you to know that your family is in my prayers. Being a mother myself, there is nothing materialistic in this world that could fufill my heart and soul like my children do. What is so inspiring is the outpouring of the generosity from thousands from all over. I think God is truely sending out an abundance of blessings to all of you. When my husband, Andrew (from Joe Swartz Electric Co.), told me that he would be involved in this project I was so excited! I love this show, and was thrilled I would be able to volunteer. It was a breathtaking experience to be a small part of. The one hour show does not even begin to bring justice to the efforts brought on by everyone involved in this project. Actually being there and seeing the process unfold is one thing...I'm sure it didn't even seem real when they "Moved that Bus!!" In the end I must say that I still do love this show...God has his hands all over it and touches each and every person involved.

May God continue to bless your family...as well as those who contributed to their time and efforts to this project. Krystal Garza and Family

Krystal Garza - Houston

Hello Kubena family! Let me just start by saying that I am so happy for you. I watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition every Sunday, and living in Boling, I was wondering when a local family would be on the show. I have heard your story from some of my co-workers for the past year, and when I heard that you were chosen to be on the show, I was ecstatic. From what I hear, you are the most deserving family, and it is such a blessing that ABC is helping you. Although I could not be a volunteer, I did go to the site to watch the progress. It was such an amazing process to watch, and I am so happy that it was for you guys. Thank you for being such an inspiration, and know that I am praying for all of you-especially Tara and Sara. God Bless you all!Samantha Foisner

I worked on Saturday the 14th, and I was only scheduled to be there for four hours, I wound up putting in 12 hours - and I never even stopped for lunch! I was so excited about what I was doing and helping - that it didn't even matter that I was not used to all the work. I am a structural detailer by trade for the Post-Tension company that provided the slab tension, but I found myself involved with the drywall's, the mason's as well as my own company and stessing the slab. I had to leave abruptly, my farther in-law had a heart attack or I would have stayed, but I am proud to have been a part of this life changing experience. Thank You and God Bless the family!

My prayers go out to you and your family. God is definitely watching over your family. He never gives us more than we can bear. Our God is so awesome and he loves all of his children. Congratulations on your brand new beautiful home.

I am a fan of Extreme Home Makeover and watch the show regularly. Last week I got an email from my sister in law in El Campo telling me about how you were chosen. I grew up in Garwood and I began to hear more and more about it from friends and family around Garwood and El Campo. I teach school in Huntsville, Texas and I have followed the progress every day on the web site. I just wish I could have been there to say, "Move That Bus." I am originally from East Bernard (Ray & Lillian Marek's daughter). We were invited to be at your home watching the construction Saturday night and visited with your siblings and Dad. I really enjoyed myself and am so happy for you. It was really special to see something good happening in my home town. It was equally special that Hurts Wastewater Management, a company from Ganado, where I live now, put in your septic system and invited us to the site that night. We are so proud for you and them that they were able to be part of such a special event. We attended the polka mass that night and really enjoyed it. May God bless and heal your daughters. We will keep you in our prayers.

You are in my prayers every day and night....You see ...I can relate to what you are going through. I know alot of people in East Bernard and that is an awesome town that pulls together in times of need.......I watched your new house going up and there were tears in my eyes because I am so happy for you....One day I would love to give you a hug.....Hang in there and be strong........You are an amazing family who deserve the best...My name is Donna Stewart and I am from Wharton, Texas......right down the road ...if you ever need to talk...I am a great listener...God Bless You and your Wonderful Family! And congratulations on your beautiful new home!

Congratulations and Best wishes for the future. Your family is in my family's prayers for your children. As you know your grandparents bought the home, next door to your new home, from my parents Edwin and Beatrice Stelzel. They built the home shortly after they got married. We lived in the house for the first 8 years of my life. Even though we have been gone from that home for over 40 years, I have watched the progress of the build on the internet with special interest. I truly wish I could have been there to help with the building. My brother Peter and family were able to help and for that I am glad. My dad died in September but mom is still alive and has been watching with interest as well. Again, I am happy that someone was thoughtful enough to submit the family's name and that the Extreme Makeover group elected to help. May God Bless everyone involved and especially the Kubena Family . Allen Stelzel

Tara was so adorable with Preston, rubbing her hand through his hair. I know you all wish your Mom could have been there. She was and probably had more to do with this than we'll all know. Congrats again, and we all LOVE you very much. Sheila
